How did I get started?
Jess the Techpreneur is focused on me and my journey to becoming who I want to be while teaching others the things I have learned in the last 12 years.
I started to have a love for computer science as a child. I strongly disliked math, but I loved computers. Growing up, “girls” showing interest in science and math-related industries wasn’t as “accepted” as it is now. So, I was guided to take on another path.
No matter what I did, I couldn’t shake computer science, so I decided to go to Northeast Mississippi Community College. I got accepted, graduated from high school, and was preparing to go when I tragically lost my aunt.
She was my mother and my best friend.
After that, I decided not to leave, and I ended up getting sick and losing my brother to an unknown heart condition that same year.
Once I started getting better, I decided to pick up the pieces. I got married, and two years later I had my first son. I went back to work and my boss at the time told me that I wouldn’t be able to continue working and take care of my son. After about 5 months, she fired me.
So I had a 5-month-old baby, was in college full-time, and in the middle of leaving a marriage and my home due to domestic violence. I was in shambles and started picking up the pieces once again.
But thank God, He gave me everything I needed during these difficult moments.
I was able to focus on what I actually wanted and was meant to do, which was running this brand, my blog, and a creative agency that specializes in helping small business owners prosper.
